AUDI was top of the leasing charts being the most ordered car brand in Q1, according to broker procurement platform Fleet Procure.
While German brands dominated the top three, Land Rover – perhaps surprisingly – was the fourth most ordered brand, ahead of BMW.
In terms of vans and pick-ups, Ford was the most in demand brand for leasing, reflecting its sales status nationally. But in second place was Peugeot, ahead of Vauxhall in third.
Mitsubishi made it into both car and LCV tables with its strong commitment to the sector.

“While Audi was the number one brand for volume in Q1, Land Rover commanded such a strong position thanks to the newly launched Velar. Kia’s position in sixth is no surprise due to its strong presence in the leasing broker market, much like the strong showing from Mitsubishi in 10th thanks to its broker partnership programme.
“For LCVs, Ford dominated the market with nearly 40% market share in Q1; that Peugeot edged out Vauxhall was something of a surprise.”
From Q2, Audi Fleet will change its route to market by adopting an agency sales model rather than the dealer programme it has run to date. The changeover may potentially affect its ability to remain top leased brand in Q2.
Lee Jones said he was already seeing the effect:
“With the change to agency Audi is already suffering and in the first 12 days of the quarter have slipped to 14th. It will be interesting to see how this pans out over the rest of the quarter.”
Lee added that with the bottlenecks being caused by WLTP testing, availability of models would be a factor for the sector particularly from May.
