YORK-based Autohorn is Yorkshire’s fastest growing business in 2018.

That’s according to The Insider Growth 100 list which is compiled using average percentage gain in turnover for the past five years.

The business which operates as a broker and a fleet management company, now employs 65 members of staff. It has a fleet of 2000 cars and a turnover of £23.4 million having started in 1995 with a team of five and a fleet of nine cars.

Autohorn puts its recent accelerated growth down to an organisational reshuffle and restructuring of marketing activities. The business also cites their heavy investment in their websites flexed.co.uk for short term loans and broker site clearcarleasing.co.uk as key reasons for success.

Scott Jenkins, Sales and Operations Director, said:

“We are always looking for new ways to innovate and become more efficient and our recent restructuring has certainly made a big impact on our capacity for growth.

“Our flexible, short term leasing options cater for a gap in the market which, with an uncertain economy, enable our customers to have the flexibility that they desire. We are now looking to build on this growth with exciting and ambitious plans for the future.”

Autohorn plans to move to a new head office at Clifton Moor, Wigginton Road, York in 2019 to accommodate further growth.

The business anticipates that the move will allow them to create an additional 65 full time jobs by 2020 as well as indirectly creating 136 jobs in the local economy by generating wider economic activity.

Autohorn’s other services  include vehicle hire, fuel management, driver training and accident management along with vehicle rental from its Europcar franchise based at York Railway Station. It has ‘Go Ultra Low Company’ status and aims to have more than 100 electric rental vehicles operating in York by 2020.

  • The Insider Growth 100 list is compiled using average percentage gain in turnover for the past five years. Companies must have experienced positive growth in the most recent year and had turnover of more than £1m in their first year.
