  • New five-model Ford Mondeo line-up debuts new ST-Line Edition and Titanium Edition models
  • Expanded sporty ST-Line range responds to demand for performance style spec Mondeo
  • Vignale series enhanced with Nero detailing as standard
  • Downward price adjustment of up to £3,000
  • Improved RVs but no sign of lower lease rates – yet
  • Satellite navigation with 8in touchscreen, autonomous braking plus front and rear parking sensors standardised across refreshed Mondeo range

FORD is taking its Mondeo range and making it more relevant in the face of increased demand for SUVs by simplifying the range, adding better specification and reducing prices.

Formerly a seven model series, the Mondeo range will be simplified to five. The new Zetec Edition becomes the entry level Mondeo, now priced at £19,445.

Thereafter Ford will be offering buyers the choice of a sporting or luxury choice Mondeo: existing ST-Line and new ST-Line Edition, or the luxury credentials of the new Titanium Edition model and range-topping Vignale.

OTR prices are reduced by:

  • £3,000 (on Vignale);
  • £2,500 (on Zetec and ST-Line Editions); and
  • £2,000 (on Titanium Edition).

However, all models feature better specification. There’s:

  • DAB;
  • autonomous braking to mitigate or avoid low-speed collisions at under 31mph; and
  • front/rear parking sensors and cruise control with speed limiter as standard

Expanded ST-Line range to meet demand for sporty Mondeos

ST-Line series has the following added spec:

  • front, rear and side body styling;
  • lowered sports suspension;
  • Ford Power start button; and
  • darkened headliner.
  • Privacy glass and 19in rock metallic alloy wheels are added on the ST-Line Edition.

The new Titanium Edition gets:

  • premium leather heated seats, with front 10-way power adjustment.

Vignale receives:

  • Vignale Nero appearance pack – comprising 19in dark tarnish alloys and darkened fog lamp bezels, lower grille and side strips – now standardised.

Ford says that increased specification and lower prices have added to the RVs. However, lease prices have not moved. Ford Lease monthly payments for the Titanium Edition 2.0 TDCi 150PS five door are maintained at £258 + VAT per month over a three year/30,000 mile lease.

Gregory: changes

Owen Gregory, Ford of Britain fleet director, said:

“The Mondeo Titanium broadly has the same lease rate but has £1200 extra value added to product. CAP has given the Titanium, with its leather and active city stopy, an uplift of £900 despite the £2000 drop in list price. The reason for the lease price not moving is that the acquisition price stays the same. However, leasing companies will start to see the new prices this week and start to form their own opinions on what leasing rates should be.”

The price changes commence September 18, with first deliveries of the new Mondeo line-up from November.
