A NEVA team of eight is taking on the Three Peaks Challenge to climb the three highest peaks of England, Wales and Scotland to support the Children’s Respite Trust – their nominated charity for 2018.
With a team of 22 other intrepid adventurers in the Children’s Respite Trust’s Three Peaks Challenge, the money they raise will go towards the trust’s new respite centre in Uckfield, to help the trust to continue to support families throughout the area to get some respite from the strain of caring for a disabled child while ensuring the children have the best possible time.
The three-day epic trek starts on the morning of Friday 9 June with the ascent to the UK’s highest summit Ben Nevis at a staggering 1345m.
Then on the Saturday morning, they’ll continue on to England’s highest point, Scafell Pike, with a highest point of 978m, The final morning will see an early start in Wales, heading up the tracks to reach the top of Snowdon finishing at an altitude of 1,085m.
Neva Consultants director Graham Prince said: “The Respite Charity takes many forms but it exists so that families can get a much-needed break from the strain of caring for a disabled child 24 hours a day.
“For most of the children the charity work with this means regular support at home from a Children’s Respite Trust carer, for others it involves attending a regular activity and for some it might be a week in a private respite centre that the charity have organised.
“The reason Neva has chosen this charity is that they have just taken on a lease on a property in Uckfield, local to Neva’s head office, but a lot of work needs to be done to convert it ready to open its doors in the summer of 2018.
“The centre will mean that children will be able to come and enjoy supervised playtime during weekends and school holidays, while their families can get a much-needed break knowing that their children are getting the best possible care but to ensure the conversion is done in time they need money and quickly!
“Neva has set a goal to raise £10,000 in 2018 and has a number of initiatives running such as £1 to dress down every Friday which should raise £1000 in the year but with eight members of staff involved in this Three Peaks Challenge this will form the major fundraising event in H1 2018 and we hope to raise a substantial amount to help us get to our target.
“Training starts in earnest next week but the whole company is behind the Neva team in successfully finishing the challenge and raising lots of money for the charity.”
