VOLVO’S successful march on the premium sector has seen it become the third biggest manufacturer in the personal leasing market.

According to the latest Leasing.com League Tables, Volvo has generated more inquiries than premium rivals  Audi and BMW in 2019 so far, but it still has a long way to go before it can rival Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz.

Although there’s strong demand for Volvo’s SUV range, the most popular model to lease is the S90 saloon thanks to its strong residual values and a host of affordable deals on the premium model.

The UK is now Volvo’s biggest European market and third largest globally behind China and the US. Leasing is also now the fastest growing form of finance for Volvo, with personal leasing accounting for 15% of overall sales in the UK, according to the manufacturer.

Paul Harrison, Head of Strategic Partnerships at Leasing.com, said: “Volvo’s offering continues to impress lease customers thanks to its premium appeal, quality engineering and affordable lease rates. We expect the arrival of the new S60 and V60 ranges to boost demand for the brand even further.

Elsewhere on the Leasing.com League Table, Mercedes-Benz continues to dominate the top 10 with the A-Class retaining pole position ahead of the VW Golf.

Skoda’s seven-seat Kodiaq was also poplar during April, while the arrival of an all-new model ensured the Range Rover Evoque was the eighth most popular.
