ALPHABET has announced the appointment of head of corporate mobility Kit Wisdom to head Alphabet technical services when Martyn Gallop retires at the end of this month.

Gallop has clocked up more than 30 years in the fleet leasing and business mobility industry since 1983 and has been with Alphabet since 2011.

During his time at Alphabet, Gallop was instrumental in establishing technical services at Alphabet’s UK headquarters in Hook, Hampshire, as well as creating a range of new services and products to the meet the changing technical needs of fleets and their drivers.

Gallop said: “It’s been a pleasure and a privilege working for Alphabet and being part of a vibrant and dynamic part of the vehicle service industry.

“Even after such a long time in the industry there are still new developments almost every single day and the pace of change in the market – as well as customers’ expectations for the speed of our response to them – is faster than ever.

“Thankfully with new developments in technology, it means we now have the ability to not only react to technical issues but also anticipate them and deal with them proactively.”

Kit Wisdom, currently Alphabet’s head of corporate mobility who has also been with the company since 2011, will assume Gallop’s responsibilities from 1 February 2016.

He said: “I’m excited to take the reins of all in-life vehicle operations for our 145,000-plus vehicle portfolio in the UK.

“Alphabet’s fleet is larger and more complex than ever in terms of the vehicle mix of hybrids, pure electrics, alternative fuels and highly bespoke commercial vehicles.

“So it’s an exciting time to be involved in this area, particularly with new technical opportunities opening up from developments in powertrain technology and ‘the more connected vehicle’.”
